I have always made fun of bloggers. And yet, here I am. I am a Ph.D. student and I study political rhetoric - which might mean I'm boring. I'm not sure anymore. My friends tell me they can't wait until I have children because it will be awesome to meet a three year old who not only comprehends but can employ sarcasm. Whatever.

Seriously, why do we still have bases in Europe, almost 20 years after the end of the Cold War?
Tris-
What an excellent question. I am quite sure it has nothing to do with a Brotherly desire to keep tabs on the events in other places. Which is good, because that's how Vietnam started. Clearly other countries do not care as much about us as we do the rest of the world - you don't see any German or Austrian bases here. What kind of family is this?
